At Auth Chiropractic and Vitality Center, we have licensed and certified practitioners available for massage appointments six days a week, Monday – Saturday.
Massage is tremendously beneficial for a wide variety of conditions and can be a powerful ally in caring for your overall health and well-being.
Some of the commonly accepted benefits of massage include:
- Alleviation of pain
- Reduction of stress
- Lessening depression and anxiety
- Improving circulation
- Relaxing muscles and decreasing stiffness
- Increasing flexibility
- Reducing spasms and cramping
- Preparing for and recovering from workouts
We offer many types of massage therapy, including:
One the most common and familiar types of massage is Swedish massage. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on your topmost layers of muscles, sometimes combined with movement of your joints. Swedish therapy relieves muscle tension, is often used after an injury and can be both relaxing and energizing.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is often used on specific painful or stiff “trouble spots” in your body. It typically employs slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Deep tissue massage is extremely therapeutic and is effective in relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries, such as back sprain.
Developed to help with muscle systems used for a particular sport, sports massage uses a variety of approaches to help athletes in training – before, during, or after sports events. You might use it to promote flexibility and help prevent injuries. Or, it may help muscle strain and aid in healing after you’ve experienced a sports injury.
Hot Stone Massage
Your therapist will place warmed stones on certain areas of your body, often on acupressure points or on stiff or sore muscles. The stones are used as massage tools and are often left in place temporarily while the therapist is working on another area of your body. The hot stones soothe and relax you as they transmit heat deep into your body.
During pregnancy, your body experiences major changes. Prenatal massage can help with the effects of these changes by reducing stress, decreasing arm and leg swelling, and relieving muscle and joint pain. Particularly while pregnant, massage can be a helpful form of pain relief to assist you in being comfortable and feeling well, especially when taking medication and other medical options may be limited due to pregnancy.
Using specially designed massage pillows, your massage therapist will help get you into a comfortable position for this type of massage.
Connective Tissue Massage / Myofascial Release
Connective tissue surrounds, protects and supports all of the other structures in your body. Fascia, a specific type of connective tissue, provides a continuous sheath of structural support for the skeleton and soft tissues such as muscles and tendons.
Connective tissue massage restores length and flexibility to your fascia, and can reduce stress, relieve chronic tension, and improve flexibility and posture. Many athletes and dancers rely on this type of massage to enhance their performance. Connective tissue massage can also be helpful in preventing and rehabilitating from many types of injuries.
This approach to soft tissue and muscular therapy that uses trigger points to correct poor posture, nerve compression as well as address biomechanical dysfunction or imbalance.
Neuromuscular Therapy has proven to be very effective for people with chronic pain and is often successful in reducing or even eliminating longstanding painful conditions. Some of the techniques can also be applied to acute injuries and for post-surgical care and can help improve performance in sport or dance and to prevent injuries due to these activities.
A gentle Swedish-style massage designed to help you relax. The massage therapist moves at a slower pace and uses lighter pressure. There is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or “knots” in the muscle tissue, which can be uncomfortable and cause some people tense up.
Our massage therapists often recommend relaxation massage if you’re getting a massage for the first time, or if your main goal is to reduce stress.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils from plants for healing. Although the word “aroma” makes it sound as if the oils are inhaled, they can also be massaged into the skin. Essential oils are also used as an effective alternative treatment for infections, stress, and other health problems.
Aromatherapy works on the “smell” receptors in your nose that communicate with parts of your brain (the amygdala and hippocampus) that serve as storehouses for emotions and memories. For example, scientists believe lavender stimulates the activity of brain cells in the amygdala similar to the way some sedative medications work.
Aromatherapy massage is a popular way of using essential oils because it works in several ways at the same time. Your skin absorbs essential oils, and you also breathe them in. Plus, you experience the physical therapy of the massage itself.
Manual Lymph Drainage Massage
Also called Lymphatic Drainage or Lymph massage; stimulates the lymph system with extremely light, circular pumping movements that encourage lymph flow in the body. Stimulating the lymphatic system helps drain puffy, swollen tissues, supports the body’s immune system, helps the body heal from surgery and aids in the body’s natural waste removal or detoxification.
Lymph Drainage massage is helpful for detoxification, edema, pre- and post-plastic surgery and post-liposuction. Lymph Drainage Massage aids in the body’s natural waste removal or detoxification and also helps with cellulite treatments, scar tissue, spider veins, redness, and acne.
Hands on energy healing, where a positive energy exchange will take place. These energetic changes in the body will release blocked energy (due to trauma, stress, etc.) and allow positive energy to come in. The energy exchange will balance the energy of that area and promote the body’s natural healing process. Crystals will be used to magnify the energy exchange. Specific vibrational sound will be administered during each session corresponding to the specific targeted area.
Hands on energy healing will be applied to the 7 chakra regions of the body, the outer energy shell, and the bones. The energy exchange will balance the energy of that area and promote the body’s natural healing process. Crystals will be used to magnify the energy exchange. Specific vibrational sound will be administered during each session corresponding to the specific targeted area.
Light touch, hands on treatment that releases local nerve restrictions while examining the effect that the local fixations have on the rest of the body at the same time. By accessing this relationship, changes can be made for more comprehensive (global) dysfunctional patterns. This manual technique can enhance proper functioning of the nervous system and communication throughout the body.
Gentle manual therapy that assesses the structural relationships between the viscera (organs), and their fascial or ligamentous attachments to the various systems in the body. This treatment assists functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic dysfunction. This manipulation increases communication within the body, revitalizing a person and relieving symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture.
Please Note: If you have been recently injured, are pregnant, or have any other health complications or concerns and aren’t certain massage is appropriate for you right now, please consult your doctor before booking a massage.
